Non-Smoking Events
The Gin Rummy Association Tournaments are now NON SMOKING events. For those of you who smoke, there is a designated area outside the convention room. The Gin Rummy Association will be charged for the Convention Space where the tournaments are held. The entry fees have been increased to 800. For the past 8 years the entry has remained the same.
The 20 per cent taken out for administrative fees will remain the same.
The GRA will supply coffee and soda, however, the cost of having food in the Gin room would be $20,000. It was suggested that we charge an extra fee to cover the food in the room, however, not everyone wants to eat the food supplied and would prefer having their own choice. The other problem is that many players have their wives, friends, etc. come in and watch. There is no way to police the food.
We have asked for low rates for the sleeping rooms and have been thankful that the Orleans has accommodated our players in this regard.
As we develop some history with the Hotel and Casino, perhaps we will be given some perks that we can then pass on to the Gin Rummy Association.
